Urbana is a city with a heart and a unique personality.  It's  a wonderful community in which to live, work, learn, and raise a family. I believe it's important to focus on providing essential services with clear goals and high standards.  We should capitalize on community strengths to attract new residents, encourage business growth, and bring jobs to the community.

As Mayor of Urbana, I will work for:

Effective government   We will hire a professional city administrator, develop a facilities plan and work actively and openly with city council members and the community to forge a strong and effective team.

Property Tax Fairness:  I believe hospitals should pay property taxes to help keep their home communities healthy.  I will fight for fairness for Urbana taxpayers.  If the Illinois General Assembly persists in giving tax exemptions for charity care, we will work to draft a law that is fair to taxpayers in Urbana.

Economic development  We will strengthen relationships with community partners, improve Urbana's business climate, and focus on economic development to create jobs, reduce property taxes and build a foundation for sustainable growth.

Safe neighborhoods  We must end gun violence and restore our most vulnerable neighborhoods.  We will focus on responsible rental property maintenance and management, improved public infrastructure, and partnerships to secure financing for small businesses and home repairs.  I'm proud to be endorsed by the Urbana Firefighter and Police unions.

Engaged Citizens  We will launch an initiative to connect neighborhoods, educate residents, and promote civic participation.
